You were right last night, and you've been right for a while. Too much has fallen to you. The invisible work, the second shifts, the things that only get noticed when they don't get done. I heard you. I want to do better, and I want to start tonight.

So consider this a formal invitation to Team Time. Three hours blocked off, phones down, sleeves up. Work stops at 6:29. Hard stop. We'll knock things off the list together, walk Rocky, make dinner, and if I'm feeling brave I might even attempt to play the guitar for the first time in a decade. No promises.

6:29 PM Laptops closed, work concluded +

In plain English Hard stop. Work ends at 6:29. No "just one more email," no "let me finish this thread." The lid comes down.
6:30 PM Cocktail hour and dinner preparation +

In plain English We figure out what's in the fridge, decide whether it's a real dinner or a "creative" dinner, and make it together. Train on the speaker (we've got a concert in August to prepare for, after all). One of us pours something. Rocky stares at us judgmentally.
7:00 PM Correspondence and guest relations +

In plain English Knocking out the HomeExchange and Airbnb message backlogs, then catching up on the texts we've both been ignoring. You read them out, I type, we move on.
7:30 PM Treasury affairs +

In plain English Figuring out why our bank transactions keep getting declined. Calling the bank if we have to. Settling whatever needs settling so it stops being a low grade weekly headache. Also: cancelling the AmEx business card that hit at Sherwin-Williams in Arvada (confirmed today, not ours).
8:00 PM Constitutional with our chief of security +

In plain English A walk with Rocky. The good long one, not the perfunctory one. Phones in pockets.
8:30 PM Personal grooming and sundry life admin +

In plain English Christian cuts his toenails. There, it's on the schedule, it's happening. Plus whatever small life admin is sitting on your mental list. Appointments, returns, reminders, the things that have been "I'll get to it" for two weeks.
9:00 PM A musical interlude? +

In plain English Christian might break out the guitar for the first time in ten years. Big maybe. Depends on courage levels and how the rest of the night has gone. If it happens, it will be brief, mostly forgotten chords, and almost certainly worth filming.

In plain English We sit on the couch having actually finished things together, for once, and feel a little smug about it.
